BIOGRAPHY

"Nights in pubs and their sequels, that's the locked-in syndrome as put under orbit on Air Wave first 7''

"...Air Wave live over Tours'rooffs, they use a tiger to fight against doves..." "...Sorry is wine and beer is a slack..."

Built on under Mary's Dreams ashes, a pop band based in the middle of France that made a flock of gigs, few demos and the joy of young girls, Air Wave is funded around the creative duo Drikx B. (guitar, bass, drums, songs and sounds) and Skristoff R. (guitar, bass, percussions, backing vocals and sounds). The team was recently completed by the solo experimentalist P Jet. (guitar, bass, djumbes, part time vocalist, things). As they came in their second decade, they decided to leave everything to "preach their own religion". From their early years, they kept a taste for fireworking guitars, as well as a dozy pop sense coming from their daily early hours experiences. What's new is that they are now starting firing in every directions. From a summer spent in raves and London's venues, they come back with a sense of eclectism-in-pop which is too weak under our skies. Their first 7' reflects that new spirit. It begins with "Locked in" hign tension line. Here we can see those whiles when the past idols' ghosts meet what's new in pop. From this story of nights spent in pubs they come back again with some sequels. It's "Not enough sorry!" on the flip side which leaves us a thousand light years away, because it takes place we sleep. It sounds like a weird cross between the Tinderstick's and Stuart Stapples and John Lydon's. It's seducing because it's so varied when it comes to emotions and tones. These vocals stains the two tracks of "Locked in" 7' with a cool romantic shade, without entering in any cliché scheme. As we hear this 7', we cannot really guess Air Wave is only 6 months old. It seems their recognition spreads in the country whithout any limit, and they've already been playing with the best and newest anglo-saxon bands (Quigley en 03/97, Monk & Canatella 06/97, Stereolab 10/97, Little Rabbits 10/97, Elysian Fields 11/97, Yo La Tengo 12/97), Movietone, Crescent, Third Eye Foundation en 1998. Their future is ahead, they know it and will pick it in their pockets.
