Vineyard
The vineyard of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil are
spread over 2000 acres. The soil is composed of
Tufs" of a chalky-clay nature or of sand and
pebbles (locally called "Graves" or "Graviers") The
appellation area follows the contours of the town
of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. Well sheltered from
the Northern winds, the vineyard enjoy a mild and
temperate micro-climate.
Wines
The Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil is made from one
grape variety, the Cabernet Franc, locally called
"Breton". The wine produced is almost purple in
color and has intense aromas with the perfumes of
red fruits and violets predominant.
The wines of gravelly soil are tasty and
pleasant from the very first years. The red wines
of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil suit cheese
perfectly.
